Deity Announces THEOS DBTX and D2RX: Wireless Audio Technology for Filmmakers and Content Creators

Deity, a popular manufacturer of audio equipment, has recently announced the launch of their new DBTX and D2RX wireless audio system called Theos Digital Wireless Microphone System. This new system utilizes a wideband UHF spectrum, which spans between 550-960 MHz, rather than the commonly used and crowded 2.4GHz band. One of the key benefits of this technology is that users can swap frequency ranges based on their phone's GPS/firmware update, making it possible to travel the world with just one wireless microphone kit.

The Theos Digital Wireless Microphone System also features a transmitter with a built-in recorder that offers both 24-bit and 32-bit float formats. This feature is particularly useful, as it ensures that the audio does not get over-modulated, thus eliminating the need to worry about gain staging on backup WAV files. The recorder saves recordings to a Micro SD card, which can be as large as 128GB.

Main Features:

  • The Deity DBTX and D2RX wireless audio system includes a dual channel receiver and a transmitter with a built-in 32-bit float recorder.

  • The system uses a wideband Digital UHF spectrum spanning from 550-960 MHz, which is less crowded than the commonly used 2.4 GHz band.

  • The recordings can be saved to a Micro SD card with a maximum capacity of 128GB.

  • The transmitter can wirelessly sync timecode from the Deity TC-1 timecode generator or via a 3.5mm jack if you are using third-party timecode generators.

  • The Sidus Audio™ app can be used to remotely control both the transmitter and receiver, and perform frequency scanning and coordination, gain staging, and remote triggering of the backup recorder.

  • The system can provide up to 14 hours of battery life with lithium batteries.

  • The full-color LCD screen and CNC-milled aluminum chassis offer a durable and user-friendly design.

  • The system includes SMA antenna ports for stable connectivity. Deity claims that the built-in recorder of Theos Digital Wireless Microphone System offers an EIN self-noise of -130dBu (A-weighting, gain at +30dB, 150ohm source impedance), which puts it on par with some of the most expensive audio recorders in the film industry. This level of quality is particularly useful for professional filmmakers who require the best possible sound quality for their projects.

The Theos transmitter can be synced wirelessly from the Deity TC-1 timecode generator, ensuring that backup WAV files will sync with the master file in post-production. This feature is particularly useful for filmmakers who work with multiple cameras or devices. Alternatively, the DBTX can be synced via the 3.5mm jack if 3rd party timecode generators are used. Both the DBTX and D2RX are made out of 2 blocks of CNC milled Aluminum, making them lightweight with the transmitter only weighing 100 grams (3.5 oz.). The system is capable of getting up to 14 hours of battery life when paired with the 3000mAh Deity AA battery. Additionally, the D2RX and DBTX can be externally powered via their USB-C ports.

One of the standout features of Theos Digital Wireless Microphone System is its remote control capability, which can be accessed through the Sidus Audio™ app. This feature allows users to perform frequency scanning and assignment, frequency coordination between multiple receivers, gain staging, and remote triggering of the backup recorder. This feature is particularly useful for filmmakers who need to work with multiple devices or make quick audio adjustments without physically touching the equipment.
